Albums

The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and a number of compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for its absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group The band held auditions to find the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the unique record. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.

Videos

Toto has produced many music videos. The band has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The band's most popular video is "Africa" which has over one billion views. The video takes place in a library, and shows the band performing in front of a pile of books about Africa.

Prior to and during the time of Toto's formation the members of the group worked as session musicians for a broad variety of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs, which led to Toto's formation. Keyboardist Paich was frequent on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto began working on a project titled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks as well as several finished recordings of songs from the past. The album was a global hit and the band toured on tour to promote it.

The group Toto, best known for their hit "Africa", recently reunited for a tour to promote their latest album, All In. The album debuted on November 6, 2018, and included three brand new tracks from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, plus completed recordings of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass.
